Dr John Swieca

Dr John Swieca is Medical Director of Melbourne Sleep Disorders Centre and an independent specialist physician who consults from MSDC-supported facilities. MSDC provides agreed non-clinical practice, operational and facility support. Dr Swieca remains responsible for his own clinical judgement, patient care and professional obligations.

After completing a Sleep Disorders Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in 1994, Dr Swieca has continued to assess and manage patients with a range of sleep-related conditions in his independent clinical practice.

His clinical interests include complex and multifactorial sleep disorders. He has participated as a principal investigator in clinical research and has particular interests in management approaches for sleep apnoea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, parasomnias and narcolepsy.

Dr Swieca chairs the Sleep Physicians Council of the Australasian Sleep Association and has served on the Board of the Australian Association of Consultant Physicians and the Executive Committee of the International Restless Legs Syndrome Study Group.
