Years of Experience

Melbourne Sleep Disorders Centre was founded by Dr John Sweica, whose work in sleep medicine helped establish an enduring focus on improving access to specialist sleep-related assessment and care.
Over time, MSDC has developed the systems, facilities and operational processes that support specialist sleep‑medicine practices across multiple locations.

Today, MSDC operates as a dedicated sleep medicine clinic and clinical support facility. We provide the rooms, specialist administration, booking and technical infrastructure that enable independent specialist sleep physicians to consult from. Our team helps patients and referrers navigate appointments, referrals and pathways to care, so specialists can focus on assessment, diagnosis and treatment.

Why patients and referrers choose MSDC

  • Established as a specialised sleep medicine center
  • Continually developing advanced diagnostic techniques
  • Active collaborative research with universities
  • Specialised services include home and hospital-based studies
  • Recognised nationally for innovative sleep disorder treatments
  • Specialist administrative support for patients and referrers

Make an Appointment

Urgent New Patient: Aim to offer an appointment within 2 weeks
Non-Urgent New Patient: Aim to offer an appointment within 8 weeks
Urgent Review Appointment: Aim to offer an appointment within 4 weeks, with priority to schedule sooner when possible
Review Appointment: Aim to offer an appointment within 8 weeks, subject to patient flexibility and availability.

Note: For new patients, a referral from a GP is required before the appointment can proceed. We strive to meet these aims but ask patients to remain flexible with available slots. The referral must be received before the consultation.
